Macalla (Irish for 'Echo') are an Irish acoustic guitar duo weaving intricate harmonies with energetic melodies inspired by traditional Irish music and contemporary compositions. Neil Ó Briain (Cork) and John Tracey (Belfast) are both accomplished musicians in their own right; they have released their own solo albums, played in numerous festivals and appeared on Irish media, and have both played in various bands. They are a regular fixture in the Belfast music scene and are currently working on their first EP, set for release later this year. Arguably an unusual pairing for this genre, John and Neil combine the best of north and south to uncover the true potential of the acoustic guitar duo and establish a new thread in Irish traditional music.
